I Quit

I Quit

I don’t know what I am, why I am, or how I am. All I know is that I am.

I breathe and I live. You can go ahead and figure out the what, why, and how behind it all if you wish. I won’t try and stop you. There is no end to all the philosophies and religions out there to guide you. If this is the way for you, so be it. But as for me, I quit.

I mean, who needs it? Does it really matter why I am here, what I should be doing with my life, or how any of us came into being in the first place? Why this incessant need to figure everything out, to apply theories, to find proof. Proof of what? I am proof. YOU are proof. Do we need more proof to feel alive? Can we please get to the living part now? The just being part. The being in love with life part. The enjoying life in spite of not knowing.

Honestly, it’s a relief to stop searching for answers, to stop looking for explanations as to what I am. Maybe I just am. And maybe I can stop trying to justify everything I say and do, which is exhausting. Maybe I can be neither right nor wrong. Maybe it’s all good just the way it is, maybe I’m all good just the way I am. Maybe I don’t need to understand or know anything to be happy.

Contemplate for a moment the fact that there exists only one of me and one of you on this entire planet. This means from the outset, no one can be better at being me than me, or you than you. Each one of us is a walking miracle destined to be exactly who we were born to be. What else is there to figure out?

I guess it all boils down to this. I give up the need to understand the what, how, and why of life. I am what I am with or without that knowledge. Truth is I came into this world without any knowledge, and something tells me I’ll be leaving the same way.

Let me know nothing. Let me look at the sky without thinking, let me feel the breeze and the warm sun on my skin without explanations, let me see the faces in a busy city street without judgment, let me laugh and cry without reason, let me take it all in without critical analysis, let me show my colors just because I can. Let me be. Breathing, living, loving my life. I am what I am.

it’s all about
being happy
